Enamel over steel, not ceramic
An enamel cup is steel finished in vitreous enamel, which is why these survive a knock that would finish a ceramic mug, and why they are light enough to hang off a bag. Three finishes here: a 280ml white cup with a black rim, a 400ml dark blue with the speckled white flecks people know from camp gear, and a plain 400ml red. One honest drawback of thin enamel over steel is that a hot drink warms the outside faster than a thick porcelain mug would.
The mark engraving leaves on enamel
Laser engraving cuts through the enamel to the steel underneath and leaves a pale permanent mark that washing will not lift. It is a single tone, so artwork has to read as a silhouette. Printing keeps your brand colours instead and sits on top of the enamel rather than through it. The engraved mark shows most clearly on the speckled blue cup; printing has the most contrast on the white one.
What buyers ask about enamel
Are these the same as tin mugs?
Yes. The traditional camping tin mug is enamel over steel, which is exactly what these are.
Can they go in the dishwasher?
Engraved cups, yes, and the mark is unaffected. Printed artwork lasts longer if it is washed by hand.
How few can we order?
One. The unit price is the same whether you take a single cup or several hundred for an event.
